If you are new to the faith or new to our church, perhaps God is leading you to take the next step in one of the following…
(You can also see the Next Steps display at Newington for more info...)
1. A Relationship with Jesus Christ
Here are a few questions to consider: Are you familiar with the person of Jesus Christ? What are your beliefs or questions about Him? Have you taken the step to put your faith in Him as your Savior, believing that He died on the cross for your sins? John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." Also Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works so that no one can boast." If you would like more information or would like to talk with the pastor or someone about this important decision, please contact us at 804-693-2349.
2. Baptism
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation through Christ. At Newington, we baptize believers through immersion. A conference with the pastor is required prior to being baptized. For more info on baptism: Baptist Faith & Message
3. Membership
Taking the step to become a member at Newington involves attending a membership class covering our history, statement of faith, stewardship and church involvement, Baptist affiliations, discipleship and growth, leadership structure, Biblical foundations, and the requirements for membership.
4. Volunteering/Serving
As part of the Body of Christ, we like to encourage each member to use his/her gifts and talents for God's glory and in service to the church. There are many ways to serve: in leadership, on mission trips, in weekly ministries with youth or kids, in prayer and Sunday morning worship, or in outreach to the community such as the Clothes Closet, Bethel Bear backpacks or WMU. Just indicate on the brown card in the pew where you may be interested in donating your time.
